 Banasura Sagar Dam, which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River, is part of the Indian Banasura Sagar Project consisting of a dam and a canal project started in 1979


The dam is now a well-liked tourist attraction. Many people travel there to do speed boating at Banasura Sagar Dam and trekking at Banasura Hill. The BBC named the Banasura Hill Resort, which is around 20 kilometres from the dam, Asia's largest earthen resort. Tourists love the available pedal and speed boats very much.
